Calaveras County Records Three Weekend Accidents
San Andreas, CA — The CHP recorded three Saturday accidents in Calaveras County.
At 6:03am 22 year old Martin Garcia of Modesto swerved his 1991 Honda Accord off Hwy 4 east of Stallion Way to avoid hitting an animal. His vehicle crossed the traffic lanes colliding with a large rock. Garcia was treated at a Modesto hospital for minor injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt.
At 4:35 pm 35 year old Emma Ruth Gates of Valley Springs failed to yield the right-of-way to 49 year old Raymond Hazeltine of Burson while traveling southbound on Watertown Rd. at the junction of Paloma Rd. Hazeltine was already southbound on Paloma Rd. and had the right-of-way. Gates’ 2005 Toyota hit Hazeltine’s 1999 Toyota. Hazeltine’s vehicle rolled over and down the dirt and grass embankment and through a barbed wire fence east of the roadway.
Hazeltine suffered minor injuries and was treated at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital. Gates was uninjured. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. No citation was issued.
At 5:25pm 59 year old Kathleen Olsen of Camp Connell was driving westbound on Hwy 4 east of Bear Valley Rd. when she lost control of her 2002 Subaru. After leaving the highway her vehicle struck a pine tree suffering major damage. She complained of pain to her rib cage. She was treated at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital.
