Copperopolis, CA — An 80-year-old Copperopolis man has been arrested for allegedly holding a pair at gunpoint and striking one with a metal pipe.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department says 80-year-old Faynell Toney is charged with battery and negligent discharge of a firearm. Toney allegedly pulled a gun on 67-year-old Donald Cerasi and 33-year-old Anthony Cerasi over some missing gold coins. The suspect then struck one of the victims with a metal pipe. The other victim was able to wrestle the gun away from Toney. During the struggle, the gun discharged and the bulled grazed the other victim.

The Sheriff’s Department soon arrived and arrested Toney and transported him to Calaveras County Jail. The two victims were treated for injuries on scene and then released.

The incident was reported on Toney Way this past Sunday.
