Officials Hope Sullivan Creek Bridge Is Replaced Before Winter
Sonora, CA — Crews will begin working six days a week on the Sullivan Creek Bridge replacement project along Phoenix Lake Rd.
Senior Civil Engineer Bill McKenzie says that effective September 19th, workers will be on scene Monday – Saturday in an attempt to have the roadway reopened prior to significant inclement weather.
The pace of the project will be increased because of concerns voiced by neighboring residents and emergency services personnel, who are concerned about driving the side roads once snow arrives.
"The existing bridge will be removed early next week," says McKenzie. "If we have a relatively dry fall, we should get the bridge in without a problem. If the weather goes bad, we’re going to lose, and it could be next summer before it is back open."
Phoenix Lake Rd. is currently closed between the Phoenix Lake Country Club Estates and Belleview Oaks.
