Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department is looking for the responsible party that allegedly struck a skateboarder with their car along Stewart St. at 9:17pm Tuesday evening.

Police Chief Mark Stinson says the victim was riding along the east edge of the street when he heard a newer model dark Volkswagen Jetta approaching him. He told officers that a rear passenger was hanging out the window and yelling something at him. The car swerved towards the skateboarder and struck him. The skateboarder rolled up the hood of the car and fell onto the pavement. He suffered moderate, non life threatening injuries, and was transported by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center.

There were reportedly five occupants in the vehicle, two in the front seat and three in the back seat. The front passenger was a white female, approximately 16-17 years old. The rear passenger, who was yelling, is a white male, approximately 16-17 years old, and was wearing a red and black baseball hat.

Anyone with information related to the incident should call the Sonora PD at 532-8141. Your call can remain anonymous.
