Phoenix Lake Rd. CLOSED Until Further Notice

Sonora, CA — By order of the Tuolumne County Department of Public Works Phoenix Lake Rd. between Phoenix Lake County Club Estates and Belleview Oaks (from Paseo de los Portales to Belleview Rd.) will be closed for bridge construction.

According to the county’s Public Works Director Peter Rei the blasting for the new Sullivan Creek Bridge has caused the structure of the old bridge to be compromised. Rei adds that with the complete closure of the old bridge, i.e, no traffic in the immediate area, the new bridge could be finished before the end of the year. If traffic were allowed to travel the old bridge there would not only be a safety issue but the completion date would be pushed back to mid to late summer of 2010.

All pedestrian and bicycle is prohibited from traveling within the construction site.
