McCartney Selected To Lead Boy Scouts

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Rich McCartney of Pennsylvania has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Greater Yosemite Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

McCartney, 42, has worked for the Boy Scouts for 16 years. He now has the assignment of directing Scouting activities in the counties of Tuolumne, Calaveras, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin and Stanislaus.

Raising money during the tough economic times will be a top priority. McCartney says, “It costs us about $300 per boy to operate the program, and we only charge about $15 per boy to join. We have to raise that other money from scratch on an annual basis.”

McCartney says his father passed away when he was five years old and scouting has provided him great opportunities that would not have been available otherwise. He says that most of his life lessons have come from being a member of the Boy Scouts.
