SAF Grant Will Help Small Business Development

Sonora, CA — The Sonora Area Foundation has given a $5,000 grant to the Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority to start a Small Business Development Center.

Consultants will be able to provide small businesses with counseling on financing, marketing and other matters.

"This is the beginning of an economic renaissance in Tuolumne County," says EDA Director Larry Cope. "We expect that the success of small businesses development will be the catalyst for future growth in Tuolumne County."

The primary consultant will be Lee Ann Fox and the reserve consultant will be Don Smith. Cope says that both bring decades of experience in starting, running and expanding small businesses.

Additional partners and service providers include the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce, Columbia College, Mother Lode Job Training Center and SCORE Chapter 596.

The grant funding was matched by the Small Business Administration (SBA) through the Alliance Small Business Development Center.
