Knight Fire Grows To 3,750 Acres: Causing Drift Smoke

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Drift smoke from the Knight Fire in the Stanislaus National Forest is becoming more visible across the Mother Lode.

“Folks are going to notice smoky conditions over the next few days,” says Pat Kaunert of the Stanislaus National Forest. “This is due mainly to the burnout operations that we are conducting.”

The Knight Fire is currently estimated to be 3,750 acres and is 25 percent contained. 1,295 firefighters are assigned to the incident. The total suppression costs have now exceeded $4.4 million.
