Sierra Conservation Center Joins Knight Fire Firefight

Sponsored by:

Jamestown, CA — Two strike teams of inmates from the Sierra Conservation Center have joined the firefighting effort at the 1,643 acre Knight Fire in the Stanislaus River Canyon.

Each strike team is made up of 17 inmates and a CAL Fire captain. The teams have been assigned to cut fire lines. By cutting trees and clearing brush fuels are removed to establish a fire break.

Inmates from other fire camps (two strike teams from Vallecito and two from Owens Valley) are also on site and considered part of the 1,016 firefighting regiment today.
