Angels Camp Police Detective Stays Busy

Angels Camp Police Detective Dave Scarborough was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Scarborough has sixteen years of law enforcement experience having worked for both the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Dept and the Marin County Sheriff’s Dept before joining the Angels Camp Police Dept in 2003.

One misperception that many residents have, is that Angels Camp doesn’t have enough crime for a detective to stay busy.

“It’s a reality that even small town USA has it’s fair share of crime” said Scarborough. “Just last year Angels Camp had its first two homicides.”

Additionally there is crime often associated with methamphetamine usage. These incidents often include an increase in property crimes, thefts, identity theft, burglaries and other crimes.

Sadly, even within the last week, Scarborough has had to deal with two child molestation cases.

Scarborough does enjoys living in Calaveras County and is currently helping to organize the upcoming 3rd Annual Angels Camp Police Association Jared Poortinga Golf Tournament at Greenhorn Creek. It takes place Friday, August 28th with proceeds going towards High School Scholarships. Call (209) 573-0040 for more information.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
