Yosemite Resident Killed On Hwy 120
Jamestown, CA — An unidentified 47 year old resident of Yosemite National Park died as the result of a single vehicle accident at approximtely 7:20 Satuday evening.
According to the C.H.P. report the driver of a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner was headed westbound on Hwy 120 east of Cherry Lake Rd. at 65 mph or faster when for an unknown reason he steered his vehicle to the left and up a steep incline embankment on the south shoulder. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned in the roadway.
The 4-Runner came to rest on its right side on the south shoulder, partially in the eastbound lane.
The driver was wearing his seatbelt and drug or alcohol use is not suspected in this accident.
This marks the 13th traffic related fatality of the year in Tuolumne County. Last year there were only three.
