Horse Accidentally Dragged To Death
Sonora, CA — Monday evening a horse was accidentally dragged to death.
Police Department officers contacted the owner of the horse and driver of the vehicle. The driver related that she and her daughters had been riding at a friend’s ranch on Jamestown Rd.
After riding the two girls loaded the horses in the horse trailer. This time the driver did not check to make sure the trailer had been properly secured.
According to the S.P.D. the horse fell out of the trailer and was dragged for several miles before the driver was aware of what had transpired at the intersection of Stockton Rd. and Washington St.
The Fire Department and the Public Works Department took care of the cleanup after the horse had been removed.
Chief Mark Stinson adds that the investigation continues into why for such an extended period of time the driver did not realize what had happened.
Stinson commented that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol/drugs at the time of the incident.
