No Mother Lode Traffic Fatalities Over The Fourth

Jamestown-San Andreas, CA — Both the Tuolumne and the Calaveras County C.H.P. offices reported not a single traffic related fatality over the Fourth of July weekend.

According to Officer Jesse Udovich during the 54 hour M.E.P. (Maximum Enforcement Period) there were five DUI arrests in Tuolumne County. Those five accounted for three accidents. In addition there were two additional non-DUI accidents.

In Calaveras County Officer Jaime Castillo reports there were five DUI arrests (three last year) along with five accidents (four last year) with four of those caused by motorists driving while under the influence. There was one additional accident not caused by a DUI infraction.

Statewide 11 deaths were recorded over the Fourth of July weekend, one more than last year. 1,033 citations were handed out for those driving-under-the-influence. That amounts to 62 more arrests than a year ago.
