CHP Maximum Enforcement Period Begins Tonight

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — The C.H.P. Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) will officially open at six o’clock Friday evening.

CHP Officer and Spokesperson Jamie Castillo was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

With 12 hour shifts Officer Jaime Castillo says anywhere from three to five “black and whites” will be on the Calaveras County roads at all times during the 54 hour MEP.

Castillo issues the usual reminders: don’t drink and drive, don’t forget to buckle up and make sure that child safety restraint seats are properly installed.

Those arrested for the first time for a DUI infraction can expect fines totaling $10,000. Last year 41 people were killed over the Fourth of July weekend in California and over half of them were NOT wearing their seatbelts.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
