Teen Injured In Hwy 49 Accident

Columbia, CA — 13 year old Kimberly Johnston of Jamestown was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries after being struck by a car on Hwy 49 near Rawhide Rd. Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses reported to the CHP that Johnston was walking 1-2 ft. inside the lane of traffic and was hit by a mirror of a passing car driven by 22 year old Ronald Billings of Sonora. According to the CHP report Billings looked down to scratch an itch on his right knee. When he looked up Johnston was directly in front of him.

Johnston suffered lacerations to her left elbow, hip and leg. 

An unidentified teenage girl walking with Johnston was not injured. 

The accident occurred at 4:30pm.
