Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — According to CAL Fire Communications Operator Jim DeVoll at the Emergency Command Center the Mother Lode was hit with two small fires following the Sunday afternoon 410 acre Rock Creek Landfill fire in Milton.

The initial evening fire occured moments after eight o’clock in the Rancho Calaveras subdivision of the Jenny Lind area. The cause of the half acre fire was children playing with matches.

At 11:55 crews responded to a quarter acre fire off Donovan Street in Jamestown. Response included units from Sonora City Fire Department, CAL Fire and a water tender from Tuolumne County Fire Department in Jamestown.

Firefighters cleared the scene in just over an hour’s time. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
