Sponsored by:

Columbia, CA — A small plane crashed at the Columbia airport during the noon hour Thursday.

“The plane was attempting to land and the left landing gear underneath the wing gave way, and it spun off into the grass,” says Sgt. Ken Diaz of the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. “It caused a little damage to the plane, but no one was injured.”

The pilot was Jonathon Baron of Virginia and the lone passenger was Robert Szego of New York.

The plane had left from New York earlier in the day and last filled up with fuel in Jean, Nevada. The plane is a Bellanca 1419.
