Tuolumne County Supervisors Approved Proposed Budget
Sonora, CA — By a 4-1 vote just prior to the noon lunch break the Tuolumne County supervisors approved the proposed 2009/10 fiscal budget.
Liz Bass cast the only dissenting vote stating that, “This budget is a direct descendent of Prop. 13 and I didn’t vote for Prop. 13 in the ’70’s. This is what they call a “starve the beast” kind of budget. I just disagree who the beast is. We need to spend more time on quality of life programs such as animal control and the Recreation Department. For those reason I’m going to vote no.”
The budget call for the reduction of 99.7 county jobs that will eliminate the $7.3 million deficit.
