SRT Working To Keep Fallon House Open

Sponsored by:

Columbia, CA –- The contract with concessionaire Forever Resorts and Columbia State Historic Park is set to expire on June 21st, but Sierra Repertory Theatre is still hoping that the Fallon House Theatre will remain open as a venue for live shows.

Forever Resorts has contract agreements for the Fallon House, Columbia City Hotel and Restaurant, What Cheer Saloon, Fallon Hotel, Jenny Lind Restaurant and Angelo’s Hall.

“The loss of Forever Resorts as a concessionaire is very unfortunate,” says Elizabeth Jones of Sierra Repertory Theatre. “SRT has been working with the local state park office who has expressed their desire to keep the Fallon House Theatre in operation, and we believe that will be possible. We have historic ties to the Fallon House, and we will do everything we can to continue producing there.”

Meanwhile, Governor Schwarzenegger’s new proposal to close 220 state parks, including Columbia, has added more uncertainty to the park’s buildings and operations. The closure of Columbia State Park would have to be approved by the legislature.
