Closures May Be Imminent For Columbia State Park
Columbia, CA — Eight businesses will close June 21 at Columbia State Historic Park unless a new concessionaire can be found.
According to Mike Keene of the Jack Douglas Saloon, Forever Resorts of Scottsdale, Arizona has not reached an agreement with the state of California to continue as concessionaire.
If such an agreement is not reached or if a new concessionaire is not in place, June 21 is the date the Columbia City Hotel, City Hotel Restaurant, Jenny Line Restaurant and Angelo’s Hall, the Fallon Theater, Fallon Ice Cream Parlor, the What Cheer Saloon and the Fallon Hotel will all close.
Keene added the economic impact, in addition to the loss of 30-40 jobs, would be devastating as the summer months are the key tourist months of the year for Columbia.
