Restored Steinway Brings Todd Schroeder Back To SHS
Musician and Composer Todd Schroeder (SHS class of ’84)returns to the Motherlode this Saturday for a solo concert to debut the restored Steinway at Sonora High School.
Schroeder was KVML’s Friday “Newsmaker of the Day”.
After six months of fundraising, the Sonora Historic Chamber reached its goal of $8,000.00 to qualify for a matching grant from the Sonora Area Foundation.
The $16,000.00 project of refurbishing the 1964 Model B Steinway Grand Piano was done by John Leggett of Leggett Piano Service in Jackson and Larry Fischer of Fishers Unique Restoration in Pine Grove.
At 7:30 pm on Saturday, April 25th, Todd Schroeder will take the stage at Sonora High School, and share with a lucky audience, this first public opportunity to hear this completely restored instrument.
Todd’s recent appearance at his 15th Annual Young Artists Grant Program Concert at Sonora High School was bittersweet, only because of the demands of a successful career as well as being a father of two young girls. He announced that it was his final Young Artists concert.
His return for the Steinway Debut Concert will be somewhat of an ‘encore’ and an opportunity to leave the legacy of such a renowned instrument to future generations of students and aspiring musicians.
“I learned on this piano” Schroeder said, “This piano set the foundation for my career.”
Tickets are $15 each for General Admission seating Please call (209)743-3494 for ticket information.
The Newsmakeer of the Day is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am
