Yosemite Allocated $7.5 Million From Stimulus

Sponsored by:

Yosemite, CA — Around $97 million in economic stimulus money will be used on projects to restore California’s national parks, and $7.5 million is coming to Yosemite.

A good portion will go towards installing renewable energy solar equipment at the El Portal office complex.

Park Ranger Scott Gediman says, “These new solar panels are state of the art and will reduce our energy usage by at least 10 percent and hopefully 15 percent.”

Money has also been set aside to purchase two hybrid electric shuttle buses, and to repair the exteriors of multiple historic buildings.
