Two Survive Single Engine Plane Crash

Groveland, CA — A 1974 Beechcraft V-35 single engine aircraft crashed Tuesday evening at approximately 5:50 in an empty field in the 12900 block of Clements Rd. adjacent to the Pine Mountain Airport.

According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office the pilot, Grandille Gaylor II from Castro Valley, refused medical attention. The passenger, Casey Topalian from Alamo, CA, suffered possible spinal injuries and was airlifted to a valley hospital.

Gaylor told authorities he was performing “touch and go” maneuvers when he lost engine power.

Tuolumne County Ambulance and Groveland Fire also responded to the scene. The NTSB and the FAA have been notified of the incident.
