Lowe’s Environmental Impact Report Completed

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The final E.I.R. on the proposed Lowe’s Home Improvement store for Sonora has been completed.

According to City Administrator Greg Applegate the document is available for public review at the city’s Building and Planning Department.

The store will be located on Old Wards Ferry Rd. directly across the street from the California Gold Development Corporation owned Prudential California Realty/Starbucks building.

California Gold will build the 112,000 square foot building and lease it to Lowe’s.

Both the city and the county would realize in the neighborhood of $500,000 a year in tax revenue from the new facility. In addition Lowe’s originally stated that approximately 120 jobs would be created.

Ground could be broken this year. Scot Patterson of California Gold has estimated it would take some eight months to build the store.

Public comment on the Lowe’s project will be heard Tuesday, April 28 in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
