T.U.D. District General Manager Discusses Proposed Rate Increase
The Tuolumne Utilities District is proposing a base rate increase that would more than double the current monthly water rates over the next five years. Sewer rates would go up as well.
T.U.D. District General Manager, Pete Kampa was Thursday’s KVML "Newsmaker of the Day".
T.U.D. has scheduled four meetings to educate the public. The first meeting will be held at 7pm in the T.U.D. Board Room at 18885 Nugget Blvd in Sonora.
Kampa said that the meetings are intended for the public to ask questions and receive information from the T.U.D. staff.
"Our rate increases over the last ten years haven’t kept up with the cost increases that we’ve seen," Kampa said. "This new five year budget is a no-growth model. We don’t foresee a lot of new construction in the near future."
T.U.D. will be posting both the presentation and the budget with documentation on www.tudwater.com by early next week.
The "Newsmaker of the Day" is heard each weekday at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am on AM 1450 KVML.
