Sonora Gottshalks To Close
Sonora, CA — It’s official; liquidators have won the battle and that means Gottshalks will be going out of business in Sonora.
The auction was held in Delaware … it closed at 8pm PDT Monday.
Founded in 1904 Gottshalks is headquarted in Fresno. It currently operates 58 department stores and employs 5,200 employees in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and Alaska.
The four companies that will liquidate the stores were involved with the liquidation of Circuit City, Linens and Things and Mervyns.
The winning bid could be approved at a U.S. District Bankruptcy Court tomorrow.
According to the Fresno Bee the liquidators must identify which employees it wishes to keep before the sale begins. The liquidation sale is expected to close by July 15th.
