Sullivan Creek Elementary Will Close

Standard, CA — The Curtis Creek School District Board of Trustees vote 4-1 Monday evening to close Sullivan Creek Elementary and move the estimated 170 students over to the Curtis Creek Elementary Campus beginning next year.

20 years ago when Sullivan Creek opened, there were approximately 1,000 students between the two schools. Officials are estimating the number will be less than 600 next year.

Monday’s meeting at the Curtis Creek Gymnasium lasted four hours. The Board heard many complaints from Sullivan Creek parents, as well as sympathy from others who said they understood the Board’s position.
