Update: Columbia Aircraft Heading To Madera Fire
Update at 6:15pm: Columbia air units are returning to base while firefighters continue working on the Madera Fire.
MMU Unit officials say the blaze is now around 220 acres in size and there are no containment figures available.
Original Post at 5:45pm: Sonora, CA — If you heard planes overhead, Columbia air resources were dispatched to the Madera Fire, which broke out shortly after 5 p.m.
CAL Fire Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit officials currently estimate the blaze at 75 acres with an unknown rate of spread. They add that no structures are currently under threat. Officials say the location is near Road 33 between Highway 145 and Road 400 in the Bonadelle Area.
