Calaveras County Re-Establishes Meth Enforcement Team
San Andreas, Ca — The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors has approved a resolution allowing the Sheriff’s Department to accept over $164,000 in CalMet funding to re-establish its Methamphetamine Enforcement Team.
Sheriff Dennis Downum says the program has a two-prong approach. Portions of the money will go towards targeting methamphetamine dealers, and the remaining will help in paying a social worker to assist children that are affected by family members that are meth users.
The Sheriff’s Department program was ended on June 30th because funding from the state was put on hold because of the legislature’s failure to pass a new budget.
