Hwy 108 Closed Due To Fatal Accident

Sonora, CA — The Highway Patrol is reporting a three vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy 108 and Via Este with one confirmed fatality.

Identity of the deceased has not been released by authorities. The accident occured at 2:58. One of the vehicles has been described as a mid ’80’s Ford Bronco. The C.H.P. is tentatively listing this vehicle as the cause of the accident.

Detours have been established at Standard Rd. and Sunshine Rd. East and westbound traffic at those two locations is being detoured to Tuolumne Rd.

The C.H.P. has requested a Modesto unit report to Memorial North in Modesto to interview one of the accident victims.

This marks the fifth traffic related fatality of the year. In all of 2008 only four people lost their lives on Tuolumne County roads.
