San Andreas, CA – Responding to a report of a beating with facial injuries, Calaveras County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man at a residence as the victim was transported to the hospital.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Lt. Anthony Eberhardt recounts that the incident occurred Tuesday night at a home in the 800 block of Sequoia Court in Copperopolis. The suspect, 49-year-old Jay Ybarra, Jr., whose most recent address is listed as in Salinas, allegedly punched and stomped the victim.

While he fled before deputies arrived, Ybarra was located shortly afterwards at a nearby residence. Few other details are currently available, according to Eberhardt, including the victim’s current medical status.

Ybarra faces fresh charges of battery with serious bodily injury and failing to register as a sex offender, as well as warrants for failing to appear on charges of alcohol-related disorderly conduct and two traffic offenses.
