Boating Crash At Pinecrest Lake

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne County, CA – The pilot of a boat got a little too close to the dock at Pinecrest Lake.

As the picture in the image box shows, instead of tying up to a dock the driver literally ended up on the pier. On Sunday, Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the lake for a reported accident on the water. When they arrived, they found a boat half on the pier and half in the water. Through questioning witnesses, they discovered that driver accidentally hit the accelerator, which sent the vessel smashing into the dock and one passenger sailing into the water. Although a little shocked and soggy, they were not hurt, however, another person standing on the dock suffered minor injuries.

Alcohol was not considered a factor in the crash. It was determined to be an accident due to operator inexperience. A reminder, sheriff’s officials relay that it is now required by law for boaters under 25 years old to have a boating safety card and provide these tips:

  • Always make sure you have all required safety equipment on board before you venture out on the water.
  • Familiarize your boaters with boat safety and the location of the safety equipment.
  • Wear a life jacket and be safe!
