Sonora, CA — January is National Mentoring Month, a time to thank those who have made an impact in your life.
Youth mentoring programs are offered in Tuolumne County through ATCAA´s Mentoring Works and in Calaveras County through Calaveras Youth Mentoring.
Elena Linehan with Mentoring Works says that youths involved in mentoring activities are significantly more likely to develop attitudes and habits that ensure success.
“Research shows that they are 46% less likely to use drugs, 27% less likely to begin alcohol use and 60% see an improvement in their grades at school,” says Linehan. “The kids learn interpersonal skills that help them in the classroom and with teachers.”
