Preventing Theft This Holiday Season
Sonora, CA– With the holiday season in full swing, the Sonora Police Department is reminding everyone to lock their vehicles and to keep valuables out of sight when parking.
“Unfortunately, several daytime vehicle burglaries have occurred in recent weeks within the City of Sonora along with a couple of auto thefts,” said Sonora Police Chief Mark Stinson. “Most of these have occurred in the parking lots of businesses and in each of these cases, some type of valuable item had been left inside the vehicle in plain view.”
The Sonora Police Department says everyone should secure their vehicles when left unattended, even if just for a few seconds. They also recommend that motorist always park in well lit areas, never leave keys in the ignition when the vehicle is running or unattended, and always report suspicious activity or suspicious people who appear to be looking into vehicles.
