Important Week Ahead For Bear Valley

Sponsored by:

Bear Valley Mountain is looking forward to perhaps the most important week of the year for Sierra Nevada ski areas.

Senior Director of Marketing, Rosie Sundell, comments that the mountain is now in full time operation (7 days a week).

Sundell was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

The week between Chrismas and New Years Day is generally seen as the most pivotal week for ski areas to maximize their exposure, future promotions and immediate revenue.

According to Sundell, “Bear Valley is really nice because we have the village with restaurants and shops … even a general store and a post office. In the resort we have three restaurants with a bar that serves food. We also have a bus that runs from the Village to the ski resort.”

New this year is an extra 400 acres to ski or snowboard on called the “Dardanelles Vista Bowl”. A contest was held to name the new area and the name was chosen because of the view of the Dardanelles.

Sundell said the first snow arrived in November, which was great news for a season based business, and the crowds of skiers have been welcoming new snow every week since the beginning of December.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
