Sonora, CA — A local man who allegedly attempted to pull a sergeant’s gun from his holster while being arrested for domestic violence is facing several felony charges, officials say.

According to Tuolumne County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Andrea Benson, deputies responded to a home on Scenic Heights Court in Sonora over the weekend for a report of a physical altercation. As they investigated the scene, 46-year-old Jason Peck began physically fighting with law enforcement, biting and kicking them as he also went for one of their firearms.

After completing the investigation into the domestic altercation, deputies arrested Peck and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail. Among the corporal injuries he allegedly inflicted was punching the victim in the face. He also faces charges for taking the victim’s cellphone to prevent a 911 call, resisting arrest, and attempting to remove a firearm from a peace officer. He received a $35,000 bail.
