The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through Wednesday 4 PM.
Snow accumulation will generally begin around 4500 feet. Four to eight inches of snow is expected above 5000 feet. Eight to fifteen inches of snow is likely above 7500 feet.
Wind gusts of up to thirty to fifty mph are blowing over the ridges.
Looking ahead to Christmas, the next system will arrive on Saturday afternoon. An inch of rain or more could fall in the Motherlode during the weekend. The Sierra Nevada may see a foot or more of snow.
Snow levels will be around 4000 to 5000 feet.
