Calaveras Authorities Taking Flooding Precautions

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA– Heavy rainfall and concern for flooding this weekend and next week, has prompted Calaveras County authorities to offer sand bags to residents.

The Calaveras County Office of Emergency Services says anyone with interests around rivers or creeks should monitor the weather and take appropriate actions.

Sand and sand bags are available at the Calaveras County Government Center in San Andreas below the red barn, past the series of modular buildings on 891 Mountain Ranch Road, the Calaveras County Road Departments in Jenny Lind, Arnold and Glencoe, and the Murphys Fire Department on the corner of Highway 4 and West Main Street in Murphys. In Valley Springs sand bags are also available in the Jitters parking lot off Highway 26 across from Hogan Dam Road and in the parking lot of the Duhamel Dentist Office on Vista Del Lago Road.

Debris should be cleared from gutters and drainages during the wet weather to reduce the risk of flooding, says the Office of Emergency Services. They also remind motorists to be prepared with the upcoming week of holiday travel by carrying tire chains, food, water, blankets and a flashlight in their vehicles in case of an emergency.
