Tuolumne County Requests Emergency Declaration

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne County is requesting that the Governor call for a State of Emergency for the winter storms that passed through the region last month.

Agencies had to pay overtime to multiple employees that helped with the cleanup effort. The county’s Twain Harte Pool facility was damaged because of a falling tree. There is also a home that was destroyed by fire which is believed to be related to the storm. The county estimates that total damage is the county is around $308,000.

If the Governor proclaims a State of Emergency, like he already has done for Calaveras County, it would open the door for state funds to come in to help recoup costs associated with cleanup. The request was approved by the Board of Supervisors today.
