Sponsored by:

The Motherlode may see some heavy rain on Sunday night and up to a foot of snow in the mountains.

Light rain and mountain snow showers are likely Saturday and Saturday night.

Breezy winds will develop Saturday night ahead of the storm system which will arrive late Sunday. This system will provide periods of moderate to heavy rain Sunday night and early Monday morning along with gusty winds.

According to the National Weather Service, four to six inches of snow may fall above 5000 feet in the Sierra Nevada and up to a foot of snow could accumulate above 7000 feet.

Precipitation will taper off to scattered showers in the Motherlode early Monday morning. Winter conditions may persist in the mountains into late Monday morning.
