Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department encountered an interesting situation on S. Washington Street near the Restano Way intersection.

When 19-year-old Brenda Rager was pulled over for a speeding violation, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The officer conducted a search and found methamphetamine and prescription narcotics inside. Rager was arrested and placed in the back of the patrol vehicle.

While the officer was waiting for a tow truck, a car driven by 41-year-old Martin Samudio of Sonora slammed into the back of the patrol car. The CHP was called to investigate the collision and placed Samudio under arrest for felony driving under the influence and driving without a license.

Rager complained of pain from the collision and was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was later booked into Tuolumne County Jail. The incident happened over the weekend.
