Thanksgiving Turkey Trots Coming Up

San Andreas, CA– Two Turkey Trot events are coming to Calaveras county Thanksgiving morning and it’s all for a good cause.

The Valley Springs 2nd Annual Turkey Trot, sponsored by the Valley Springs Optimist Club is a 1-mile and 5K walk/run starting at 8:00 am in downtown Valley Springs.

In Murphys the 4th Annual Turkey Trot is happening at Murphys Park and will start at 9:00 am. The entry fee is canned food that will be donated to the Resource Connection Food Bank. There will be a 2.5 mile and 5 mile race.

“These were great events and wonderful fundraisers last year”, said Jeannie Hayward, Program Director of the Resource Connection Food Bank. “Many families came together for exercise and fun before their big Thanksgiving meals.”

The proceeds from these events will go to the Food Bank and Santa’s Express to help provide food, clothing and toys for families at the Christmas Santa’s Express distribution, December 21st.
