Gaines Or Cooley Will Fill Cox’s Seat

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA – Since none of the four candidates received over 50 percent of the vote in the Special Election for the District One state Senate seat, the top two will advance to a runoff election in January.

Republican Ted Gaines received 32 percent of the vote, Democrat Ken Cooley received 30 percent, Republican Roger Niello had 24 percent and Republican Barbara Alby finished with 12 percent.

Gaines will face Cooley in January, and the top vote getter will fill the seat vacated by the late Senator Dave Cox who passed away in July. District One covers multiple foothill counties, including all of Calaveras County. For a list of results click on the Elections Page.
