The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Sierra Nevada from 5pm Monday through 11am Tuesday.
The snow level will begin at 8000 feet. Two to four inches of snow is likely above 8,500 feet. Heavier snow is likely above 10,000 feet. Drivers, hikers and campers should prepare for unsettled weather and very cold conditions.
Winds will gust up to 45mph over the Sierra Crest
In the Motherlode, thunderstorms and scattered rain showers will continue over the next several days.
The periodic storms are capable of producing torrential downpours, small hail, gusty winds and frequent lightening.
Dry and mild weather is expected by the weekend.
