Volunteers Needed For Clean Up Project
Sonora, CA– In celebration of National Public Lands Day, the Mi-Wok Ranger District of the Stanislaus Forest Service will participate in this year’s Great Sierra River Clean Up Saturday, September 25.
The event is a community partnership effort between the Stanislaus National Forest Tuolumne County Resource Conservation District, Tuolumne River Trust, Tuolumne Utilities District, Tuolumne County Master Gardeners and the Tuolumne County Division of Solid Waste.
The Great Sierra River Clean Up 2010 is part of a larger effort sponsored by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy and the California Coastal Commission. Thousands of volunteers will come together for a single day dedicated to cleaning the fifteen rivers of the Sierra Nevada range. Tens of thousands of pounds of trash will be collected, from cars to cigarettes, to tires and beverage containers.
