“Pinecrest Fire” Grows To 288 Acres
Pinecrest, CA – A lightning caused fire in the Stanislaus National Forest is now 288 acres.
Forest Service officials have been managing the “Pinecrest Fire” in the Emigrant Wilderness for resource objectives. The fire started on August 9th near Waterhouse Lake, just east of the Pinecrest Peak. The area is not closed to recreation use, but visitors are advised to use caution while hiking through the burned area.
Last week, the Forest Service established control lines on the north and west perimeters of the fire to check the spread. The fire is currently burning to the east. It will continue to burn as long as it does not significantly affect air quality.
