Gaines Seeks Cox’s Seat

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — Republican Assemblyman Ted Gaines says he will run for the District One Senate seat that opened up with the passing of Senator Dave Cox.

Gaines, a former Placer County Supervisor, was elected to the Assembly in 2006. The primary election will be held November 2nd, and the top vote getters from each party will move on to a special election on January 4th.

“With record deficits, budget meltdowns and a stumbling economy, California is on the edge and we need to act now to pull it back and turn things around,” says Gaines. “This campaign is about who the voters can trust to stand firm for lower taxes, less government spending and a robust private sector economy.”

No others candidates have yet announced plans to run for the District One Senate seat. Gaines’ Assembly District Four stretches from the Oregon border in the north to Mono County in the south. It covers 12 counties.
