Budget Crisis Reduces Prison Visitation

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — Visitors will not be allowed at California prisons during the weekend of June 26-27.

State corrections officials announced today that due to the state budget crisis, inmate visitations will be suspended for one weekend. The move will save the state an estimated $400,000 in overtime.

The CDCR is making efforts to inform families about the cancelled visitation, and visitation phone lines will be updated with new information.

The department plans to return to a full visitation program beginning July 1st, which is the beginning of the new fiscal year.
