Twain Harte, CA — Two missing girls were found safe in Twain Harte this morning.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office began a search around eight o’clock Sunday evening after 16-year-old Wendy Pascua of Stockton and six-year-old Kaylie Fernandez of Twain Harte went into a forested area near Fernandez’s home looking for a nearby cave.

The pair attempted to find their way back to the house but had gotten lost. Pascua used a cell phone to contact Fernandez’s mother, Julie, who to told the two to stay put.

The mother contacted the Sheriff’s Office, and a ground search was initiated. At around 1am, a deputy heard one of the girls call out so he told them to walk towards his flashlight.

The two girls were located and safely returned home around 1am.
