YCCD Chancellor Retiring

Sponsored by:

Modesto, CA — The Chancellor of the Yosemite Community College District will be retiring next month.

Dr. Roe Darnell says he will step down on July 31st.

Darnell has served as Chancellor for three years and will put an end to a 43 year career in higher education administration.

Darnell announced his decision at a YCCD Trustees meeting this week and cites the illness of a family member as the reason.

“I have enjoyed my time with the District and am honored to have worked with a district office and two excellent colleges which include an outstanding cadre of administration, faculty and staff dedicated to serving students in the best way possible,” states Darnell. “I know that our community and our state will continue to be well served by Columbia College and Modesto Junior College.”

A major accomplishment of Darnell has been overseeing the district’s $324 million Measure E projects.

The YCCD Board of Trustees will discuss the process for finding a replacement at an upcoming meeting.
